Parent Discussion Guide

Why kids need a safer messenger app.

Kids are more likely to embrace limits when they understand the reason behind them.
Gabb encourages you to talk with your kids about why many messenger apps weren’t designed with them in mind—and the real risks that come with that:

  • Exposure to explicit content
  • Contact from strangers
  • Harmful links and scams

Having that conversation builds trust. Gabb backs you up by giving kids the freedom to stay connected while alerting you to potentially harmful messages, so you can step in when it matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can my child message anyone?

On Gabb Watch, messaging is limited to parent-approved contacts by default. On Gabb Phone, kids manage their own contacts by default—but parents can turn on contact approval anytime through MyGabb.

  • How does message monitoring work?

Gabb Messenger uses smart filtering to alert parents to potentially concerning messages and help them stay informed.

  • Are video calls safer with Gabb?

Yes. Video calls are limited to approved contacts only—and every contact has to be personally invited and verified before they can connect. No strangers, no public access. All video calls are also monitored for nudity. If nudity is detected, the call ends automatically, video calling is disabled, and parents receive an alert with a blurred image to review. Parents decide when—or whether—to re-enable it. Video calling is on by default, but parents can turn it off entirely at any time.

  • Does Gabb Messenger include social media?

No. Gabb Messenger is built for direct messaging only—no feeds, no followers, no social media.

  • Does Gabb Messenger have parental controls?
