Detox Your Way

This experience has to work for your life. Here are some options we’ve tried. Choose from these or come up with your own way to participate.

Delete apps and take things back to 1995 — only calls, texts, and your camera

Quiet the noise and turn off notifications

Decrease the pull by changing your screen to black and white

Go old school icon

Go old school and make room for in-person connection by deleting social media

Leave your phone icon

Leave your phone in your glove box overnight

Ready. Set Your Intention. Go!

Having some hopes.

Have some hopes. Take a moment and think about what you’re hoping this experience will bring you. Explore how you are feeling and what you hope to achieve before you start the phone fast.

Give your fan base a heads up

Give your fan base a heads up. Let your friends, family, and coworkers know you’ll be taking a break. Have the kids in your life hold you accountable. They’ll take notice and learn from your example.

Plan for discomfort.

Plan for discomfort. It’s going to feel uncomfortable for a bit. That’s normal, and as the days go by, we found we actually began to feel more comfortable in our own skin.

Having some hopes.

Make some plans. With more free time ahead, planning how to use it can boost your success. Find fulfillment offline by self-care, napping, socializing, exploring new things, or enjoying adventures with the kids.

Check In Nightly

Be mindful of how you feel each day. Consider writing in a journal nightly to record your experience.

Get Inspired

  • Taysom H.

I’ve committed to being a more present husband and father, this was such a wonderful eye-opening experience for me.

  • Sahana K.

While not having my phone, the time on my laptop was work time, and when my laptop was closed, I could actually disconnect and be very present!

  • Tessa S.

Would I do it again? Absolutely! It was so good for my mental health and my family.

  • Fallon P.

I’ve always supported Gabb and their movement, but now more than ever I realized why it’s so important to disconnect and not have ties to social media or internet access.

  • Nate W.

It helped me to take a step back and focus on what’s most important, to prioritize more, my family, people that value me, and not be sucked into comparison culture.
