Gabb's parent app, MyGabb, allows parents to set controls for Gabb devices and monitor your child’s location. This article will guide you through pairing and setting up parental controls using the MyGabb app for parents.

How do I set up my Gabb device with the MyGabb app? 📲

After you activate your Gabb Phone or Gabb Watch, set up the MyGabb app on your smartphone.

‼️ Gabb Phones and Watches must be active before attempting to pair them with the MyGabb app. To activate a device, visit our activation portal.

Sign into MyGabb

Follow these steps to sign in to the MyGabb app:

  1. Download the MyGabb app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

  2. Enter the email address and password that you set up when you purchased your Gabb device, then tap Sign In.

To set up your Gabb Phone in the MyGabb app:

  1. Log in to the MyGabb app on your (parent's) smartphone.

  2. Tap the popup that appears, then follow the prompts to set up your phone.

Follow these steps to set up your Gabb Watch:

  1. Press and hold the power button (bottom button) for four seconds to turn your watch on.

  2. Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone.

  3. Download the MyGabb app on your smartphone.

  4. Log in to the MyGabb app using your Gabb account credentials (not your child’s login).

  5. Tap the popup that appears prompting you to set up your watch. If you don’t see the popup, tap the hamburger icon in the upper-left corner, then tap Add Device.

  6. Tap on your device, then follow the prompts to finish setting it up.

How do I unpair my device from the MyGabb app?

You may need to unpair your Gabb device from the MyGabb app, for example when troubleshooting an issue or transferring your phone number to a new Gabb device.

Follow these steps to unpair your Gabb device from the MyGabb app:

  1. Log in to the MyGabb app on your (parent's) smartphone.

  2. Tap Manage at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Tap on the Gabb device you want to unpair.

  4. Tap Profile.

  5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen, then tap Unpair Device.

  6. Tap Unpair.

Push notifications

The MyGabb app will send you push notifications about your child's activity, including location updates. You can enable, check, delete, and manage your notifications for the MyGabb app.

Enable push notifications for MyGabb in your device settings or in the MyGabb app:

  1. Log in to the MyGabb app on your smartphone.

  2. Tap the bell icon 🔔 in the upper-right corner.

  3. Tap the gear icon. ⚙️

  4. Toggle Allow Push Notifications on.

  1. Log in to the MyGabb app on your smartphone.

  2. Tap the bell icon 🔔 in the upper-right corner.
    There will be a blue bubble on the bell icon when you have a new notification. 🔵

Delete your notifications

  1. Log in to the MyGabb app on your smartphone.

  2. Tap the bell icon 🔔 in the upper-right corner.

  3. Swipe from right to left on the notification you want to delete, then tap Delete.

    ➡️ To delete all of your notifications, tap Select All, then tap the trash can icon. 🗑️

Adjust the notification settings for the MyGabb app in your device settings.

Edit your child's profile information 📝

To edit your child's profile information:

  1. Log in to the MyGabb app on your smartphone.

  2. Tap Manage at the bottom of the screen, then tap on your Gabb device.

  3. Tap Profile, update your child’s profile information, then tap Save Changes.

Manage Safe Zones 🏠

Want to be notified when your child enters or leaves an area? Set up Safe Zones to deliver these notifications to your MyGabb app.

When your child enters or leaves a Safe Zone, you’ll get updated anytime between one second and 15 minutes, based on how long ago you received the last location update.

👉 You can also click the Refresh button 🔄 in the MyGabb app if you want a real-time location update.

Here’s how to set up a Safe Zone:

  1. Log in to the MyGabb app on your smartphone.

  2. Tap Safe Zones at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Tap the plus sign ➕ in the bottom-right corner of the map, fill out the Add Safe Zone form, then tap Save.

How does GPS location monitoring work? 📍

Parents can view a child’s location at any time in the MyGabb app. GPS automatically refreshes the location every 15 minutes. You can also manually refresh the Gabb device’s location in the MyGabb app at any time.

To ensure that your Gabb Phone or Gabb Watch is giving an accurate location, make sure that your phone or watch is signed in to the correct Gabb ID.

Here's how to set a location monitoring schedule:

  1. Log in to the MyGabb app on your smartphone.

  2. Tap Manage, then tap on your device.

  3. Tap Profile.

  4. Expand the Location Monitoring section.

  5. Set the Update Frequency, Start Time, and End Time.

  6. Tap Save Changes.

  1. Log in to the MyGabb app on your smartphone.

  2. Tap on your device.

  3. Tap the Refresh button 🔄 in the bottom-left corner of the map.

Device won't connect

If your Gabb Watch or Gabb Phone won't connect to the MyGabb app, follow these steps:

  1. Activate your device: Ensure that your Gabb device is active.

  2. Restart your device: Turn your Gabb device off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on.

  3. Connect your device to WiFi: Connect your Gabb device to a strong WiFi connection. 🛜

  4. Update the MyGabb app: Update the MyGabb app to the latest version.

  5. Log out of the app: Log out of the MyGabb app, then log back in.

  6. Reinstall the app: Uninstall the MyGabb app from your smartphone, then reinstall it.

  7. Connect your device: Attempt to connect your Gabb device to the MyGabb app again.

    1. If you still can't connect your device, wait for a screen with a Set up Manually button. Tap this button, then follow the prompts to set up your device manually.

👉 You can't pair your Gabb device to the MyGabb app online. You must pair your device from the MyGabb app on your (parent's) smartphone.

Location not working/isn't accurate

Your device’s location may not update automatically if the device isn’t connected to a strong cellular or WiFi signal. If the location for your Gabb device isn't working or isn't accurate, try these steps:

  1. Sign in to your child's Gabb ID on their Gabb Phone or Gabb Watch.

  2. Turn your Gabb device off, then turn it back on.

  3. Make sure your Gabb device has a strong WiFi 🛜 or cellular signal. 📶 If the cell signal is two bars or less then the location may not update regularly.

  4. Charge your Gabb Phone or Gabb Watch. 🔋

  5. Update the MyGabb app to the latest version.

  6. Enable push notifications from the MyGabb app.

  7. Log out of the MyGabb app, then log back in.

  8. Tap the Refresh button 🔄 in the bottom-left corner of the app.

What does the MyGabb app control?

The MyGabb app is where you can set up Gabb’s parental controls, including:

📌 GPS location tracking

The MyGabb app allows you to see the location of your child’s Gabb Phone or Gabb Watch. GPS location updates every 15 minutes, but you can also refresh the location for your Gabb device at any time by tapping the Refresh button 🔄 in the bottom-left corner of the map.

📌 Safe Zones

You can set up Safe Zones in the MyGabb app. A Safe Zone is a designated area you set up to get notifications whenever your child enters or leaves the Safe Zone area.

📌 Approved contacts

  • Gabb Watch: You can add up to 100 contacts to your child’s Gabb Watch. Your child can only text and call people that have been added to the approved contacts list. Your child cannot manage their own contact list.

  • Gabb Phone: Gabb Phones can have an approved contacts list, or you can let your child manage their own contacts.

    • Approved contacts for the Gabb Phone are managed in the Gabb Messenger for parents app, not the MyGabb app.

📌 Focus Mode (watch only)

A Focus Mode allows you to set the watch to Do Not Disturb. When a Focus Mode is turned on, your child will only be able to text and call parent and guardian contacts, and make SOS calls. App usage is also restricted with a Focus Mode.

How do I set up my Gabb Phone or Gabb Watch with the MyGabb app?

To connect your Gabb Phone or Gabb Watch to the MyGabb app, follow these steps:

  1. Download the MyGabb app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

  2. Log in to the MyGabb app using your Gabb credentials (not your child’s login).

  3. Tap Set up now on the pop-up that appears, then follow the prompts to set up your device with the MyGabb app.

How do I disconnect my device from the MyGabb app?

To disconnect your Gabb Phone or Gabb Watch from the MyGabb app, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the MyGabb app using your Gabb credentials (not your child’s login).

  2. Tap Manage, then tap on the device you want to disconnect.

  3. Tap Profile.

  4. Scroll to the bottom, then tap Unpair Device.

Why isn’t GPS location working on my Gabb Phone or Gabb Watch?

If the location isn’t working on your Gabb device, try these steps:

  1. Turn the Gabb device off, then turn it back on.

  2. Connect your Gabb device to a strong WiFi network 🛜 or cellular connection 📶.

  3. Update the MyGabb app on your (parent’s) smartphone to the most recent version.

  4. Log out of the MyGabb app, then log back in.

  5. In the MyGabb app, tap on your device, then tap the Refresh button 🔄in the bottom-left corner of the map.
