Welcome to the Gabb Phone 4 User Guide. This User Guide will help you get to know & set up your new Gabb Phone 4.

Activating your Gabb Phone 4

This section will walk you through activating your new Gabb Phone 4. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Turn on and activate
  • Remove the back cover of your Gabb Phone 4 by pulling up on the bottom-left corner of the case.
  • Insert the battery into the back of the phone with the gold contacts in the upper-right corner.
  • Press and hold the power button (bottom side button) to turn the Gabb Phone 4 on.
  • Select For My Child.
  • Connect the Phone to WiFi.
    • If you don’t see your WiFi network listed, select Settings to view more networks.

New line devices ordered at gabb.com are active and will skip the rest of this section. Move to Step 2. Ordered on a marketplace like Amazon or setting up an upgrade or replacement device? Finish Step 1. 👇

  • On the Gabb Phone 4, select Go to gabb.com/activate, then scan the QR code shown on the Gabb Phone’s screen from your smartphone.
  • At gabb.com/activate select the appropriate option:
    • I’m new to Gabb: Select if you do not have a Gabb account and this is your first device.
    • I have a Gabb account: Select if you already have a Gabb account. If this is your first Gabb device and you ordered at gabb.com you have an account that you created when you bought your Phone.

Once active, tap Check Again on your Gabb Phone 4.

Step 2: Gabb ID and Fingerprint Unlock
  • Create a Gabb ID or sign into an existing one.
  • Setup a fingerprint and/or screen PIN.

We recommend using the fingerprint scanner in addition to the PIN. If a security PIN is forgotten you’ll have to factory reset the Gabb Phone 4.

Safe video calling, contact management and more.

  • Download the Gabb Messenger Parent app on iOS or Android.
  • Login using your Gabb Account credentials (the same username and password you’d use to login to gabb.com/account).
MyGabb app

GPS track your Gabb Phone 4:

  • Download the MyGabb app on iOS or Android
  • Login using your Gabb Account credentials (the same username and password you’d use to login to gabb.com/account).

Pair the Gabb Phone 4 to the parent MyGabb app as discussed in this article.

Adding contacts to your Gabb Phone 4

Your child can add contacts to their Gabb Phone 4. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Messenger app on the Gabb Phone 4.
  2. Select the Contacts tab.
  3. Select the person icon in the upper-right corner. 
  4. Enter the contact’s details, then select Save.

Parental controls

Gabb gives you the option to control the contacts added to their Gabb Phone. Follow these steps to control which contacts are added to your Phone:

  1. Login to the Gabb Messenger Parent app on your smartphone.
  2. Select your child’s profile at the top of the screen.
  3. Select Controls.
  4. Select Contact Management.
  5. Select the slider next to Parent-Managed.
  6. Build your approved contacts list.
    • Your child will only be able to text people you’ve added to the approved contacts list.
    • Calling management is available on the Gabb iOS app and is coming soon to Android.

Setting up voicemail on your Gabb Phone 4

Follow these steps to set up voicemail on your new Gabb Phone 4:

  1. Dial *86 from the Gabb Phone.
  2. Follow the prompts to set up voicemail.

Get to Know your Gabb Phone 4

Security

Your child has the option to set up a fingerprint, PIN, or password on their Gabb Phone 4. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open the Settings app on the Gabb Phone 4.
  2. Select Security.
  3. Select  Screen lock.
  4. Set up a PIN, password, unlock pattern, or fingerprint unlock for additional security.

Gabb OS

Gabb’s proprietary operating system provides a safe tech environment for kids. GabbOS comes pre-installed on the Gabb Phone 4.

No social media apps or internet browsers

Keep your kids safe from potentially harmful content and encourage them to spend time off screens.

GPS location tracking

Monitor your child’s location with GPS tracking on the My Gabb app. GPS location updates every 15 minutes; however, you can set this to every 10, 30, or 60 minutes. You can also set up Safe Zones to notify you when your child arrives at or leaves a location.

Safe texting on Gabb Messenger

Gabb Messenger flags or blocks messages that may be harmful to your child. Parents are alerted via the Gabb Messenger Parent app on their smartphone when this happens. Download Gabb Messenger Parent on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to be notified of flagged messages and more.

Clean music streaming

Gabb Music and Gabb Music+ don’t bleep out lyrics—instead, we use our industry-leading tools and proprietary technology to filter out explicit and suggestive songs & album artwork. Gabb Music is included in our Standard service plan; and Gabb Music+ is included in our Advanced service plan. You can also add Gabb Music or Gabb Music+ as a à-la-carte subscription. 

Block spam calls

Gabb Guard automatically blocks up to 90% of suspicious calls and texts, keeping unknown callers from contacting your child.

  • Chabad.org Daily Torah Study
  • Chess
  • Gospel Library
  • Quran
  • Sora

Here’s how to add one of these apps to your child’s Gabb Phone 4:

Before beginning, make sure your child is logged into their Gabb ID in the Gabb ID app on the Gabb Phone.

  1. Login to your Gabb account from a web browser at https://gabb.com/account/gabb-app-store
  2. Browse or search for the app(s) you want to download. 
  3. Select Add next to the app’s name.
  4. Select Add App.
  5. Open the Gabb ID app on the Gabb Phone 4 while connected to Wi-Fi, then select Check for Updates. The app will be added to the Phone.

Activation Troubleshooting

Having trouble activating your new Gabb Phone 4? Here are some issues you may encounter when you activate your Phone.

Can’t pair Phone to parent’s MyGabb app

Login to your account at www.gabb.com/account and verify that the Gabb Phone 4 is active. If the Phone is not active, go to the Activating your Gabb Phone 4 section of this article and follow those steps.

A new line was set up for the new device instead of transferring an existing Gabb phone number

You can transfer your child’s phone number from one phone to another. This can be done digitally from your Gabb account. Removing the SIM card is not required to transfer the phone number.

Follow these steps:

  1. Login to www.gabb.com/account
  2. Select View Details under the old line.
  3. Select Activate Device
  4. Select New Phone.
  5. Enter the new SIM/ICC number (found on the back of the Gabb Phone 4’s box).
  6. Select Continue.

After you’ve transferred the existing phone number to your new Gabb Phone, send an email to billing@gabb.com and ask us to cancel the new line that was set up on accident.

No cell service (cannot receive texts/calls, etc.)

Having issues with cell service, including receiving calls & texts? Try these steps:

  1. Login to your account at www.gabb.com/account and verify that the Gabb Phone 4 is active.
    1. If the Phone is active, continue to the next step.
    2. If the Phone is not active, go to the Activating your Gabb Phone 4 section of this article and follow those steps.
  2. Move to an area with better service, such as outside or near a window. 
  3. Turn the phone off, then back on.
