Gabb Phone 4 Quick User Guide

Learn how to set up and use your Gabb Phone 4. Follow steps to install the battery, activate service, set parental controls, manage contacts, use Gabb Messenger and Gabb Music, download safe apps, and access key features and specs.

Gabb Phone 4 overview 📋

In this guide, you’ll learn how to get started with your Gabb Phone 4 and learn about its features.

Install or replace Gabb Phone 4 battery 🔋

Some phones come with the SIM card and battery already installed — others include them loose in the box. Either way, here's how to get set up

  1. Remove back cover: Hold the phone screen-side up. Find the small notch on the lower-right edge, press your fingernail in, and lift the cover off.

2. Insert the SIM card: If your SIM card is already in the phone, skip to step 3. If the SIM card is attached to the phone box, insert it into the top-left SIM slot with the gold contacts facing down — the cut corner will guide the orientation.

3. Insert the battery: If your battery is already installed, skip to step 4. If not, place it in with the barcode facing down and the gold contacts in the upper-right corner. Press gently until it sits flat.

4. Replace the back cover: Line the cover up at the top of the phone and press down along the edges until it clicks into place.

Turn on your Gabb Phone 4 ⚡

Press and hold the power button for five seconds to turn on your Gabb Phone 4.

If the setup isn't working in the parent’s MyGabb App, your child's Gabb Phone 4 may need to be updated before pairing can finish.

Your phone likely needs an update if:

  • The MyGabb app on the parent's phone asks you to scan a QR code.

  • The child's phone still shows the MyGabb app.

Update the child's phone:

  1. Connect the phone to Wi-Fi.

  2. Complete any on-screen setup.

  3. Open the Gabb ID app.

  4. Tap Check for Updates.

  5. Keep the phone connected to Wi-Fi for about 5 minutes.

The MyGabb app will disappear from the child's phone once the update is complete. This is expected.

Finish setup in the MyGabb app on the parent's phone:

  1. Close and reopen the MyGabb app on the parent's phone.

  2. Tap Set Up again.

The phone should pair successfully and be ready to use.

Set up parental controls ⚙️

Safe Zones 🏠

The Gabb Phone 4 is equipped with real-time GPS location tracking and customizable Safe Zones. A Safe Zone is a pre-defined area that you set up, allowing you to get a notification from the MyGabb app when your child enters or leaves that area.

Safe texting on Gabb Messenger 📨

Gabb Messenger flags or blocks messages that may be harmful to your child. You'll get a notification from the Gabb Messenger for Parents app when this happens. You can also add approved contacts for your Gabb Phone in the Gabb Messenger for Parents app.

Download Gabb Messenger from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

App-to-app Safe Video Calling 🤳

Gabb Messenger allows your child to make app-to-app Safe Video Calls to other Gabb Messenger users. Parents can make video calls to their child using the Gabb Messenger for Parents app. Parent-approved friends and relatives can also use the app after your child sends a link to an approved contact.

Clean music streaming with Gabb Music 🎶

Gabb Music doesn't bleep out lyrics—instead, we use our industry-leading tools and proprietary technology to filter out explicit and suggestive songs.

Gabb Music is included on Standard plans, and Gabb Music+ is included on Advanced Plans, or you can add Gabb Music or Gabb Music+ as a standalone subscription.

Text & call logs 🧾

You can monitor your child's text & call logs from within your Gabb account.

Set up voicemail on your Gabb Phone 4 📞

  1. Access voicemail: Dial *86 from your Gabb Phone 4.

  2. Follow the prompts: Listen to the automated instructions and follow the prompts to set up your voicemail.

You can access your voicemail at any time by dialing *86.

Add contacts to your Gabb Phone 4 👥

Follow these steps to add an approved contact in the Gabb Messenger app:

  1. Log in to Gabb Messenger using the Gabb account login credentials that you use to log in to your Gabb account (not your child’s login).

  2. Enable push notifications so you get notified about flagged and blocked texts.

  3. Build your child’s approved contacts list:

    1. Tap your child’s profile icon 👤, then tap Contacts.

    2. Select Parent-managed from the Contact Management drop-down.

    3. Tap the blue plus sign ➕ in the bottom-right corner.

    4. Choose how you want to add the contact:

      1. Create New Contact: Enter contact details manually, then tap Create Contact.

      2. From Child's List: Approve your child's contacts by selecting the contact(s) you want to improve, then tap Approve Selected.

Here’s how to add one of these apps to your child’s Gabb Phone 4:

  1. Connect your Gabb Phone 4 to WiFi. 🛜

  2. Log in to your Gabb account.

  3. Tap the hamburger icon in the upper-right corner, then tap Gabb App Store.

  4. Browse or search for the app you want to download, then tap Add > Add App.

  5. Open the Gabb ID app on the Gabb Phone, then tap Check for Updates. The app will be loaded onto the Gabb Phone.

Gabb’s cellular service runs on America’s best network. We offer service in the United States only.

Gabb devices will not make calls internationally, but when connected to WiFi, your child can use Gabb Messenger to make video calls and send text messages.
